Amos F. BARNARD, one of the old pioneers of this county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry SMITH, on Friday morning of last week, after a lingering illness, aged 87 years. He was born in Steuben county, N.Y., July 2, 1820, and twenty years later came to Michigan, settling in the township of Genoa, in this county, where he married Electa BUSH in 1844 and in 1848 he moved his family to this township where he continued his residence on the farm until his death. He was the father of eight children, four sons and two daughters survive him, the other two having proceeded him to the other life. For many years he was an active member of the I.O.O.F at this place and held many of the official positions in the gift of his brethren. He was also an active Mason for many years and took great esteem in the work of the order and had much to do with the early affairs of his neighborhood and township. He was a kind ____, a faithful friend and respected by a large circle of acquaintances. The funeral services were held at the home on Sunday afternoon, the Rev. J. O. DEAN officiating. Additional Comments: Amos' parents were James BARNARD & Abigail Bigelow FOWLER.
