Born June 8, 1963, in Gardena, California, he was the son of Lowell F. and Linda (Bell) Kelso. Jay grew up in Vincennes, Indiana, and attended Vincennes Lincoln High School but had lived in Michigan for 25 years where he was a self-employed drywall contractor. Survivors include his parents, Lowell F. and Linda (Bell) Kelso of Vincennes; his fiancée and best friend, Janet Stephens and her daughter, Aubree, of Brighton; a daughter, Melissa D. Arendsen and her husband, Ryan, of Zeeland, Michigan; a son, Adam J. Kelso of Gaines, Michigan; a sister, Deborah Conrad and her husband, Tim, of Bruceville, Indiana; brothers, Greg Kelso of Mississippi, Steve Kelso and his fiancée, Stephanie Campbell, of Vincennes, and Michael Kelso and his wife, Lori, of Orlando, Florida; grandchildren, Collin, Hannah and Caden Arendsen; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Sara Louise Kelso. The funeral was conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway St., Vincennes, Indiana, by Randy Lankford, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial was in Upper Indiana Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Vincennes. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christian Campus Fellowship, 211 West Portland Av., Vincennes, Indiana, 47591. CCF is located on the Vincennes University campus and serves the students.
