     Philander Hopkins
      1793 - 1861

Philander Hopkins Sr. was born September 1, 1793 in Pittsford, Rutland, Vermont
USA to Nehemiah Hopkins Jr. and Lucy Durfee. He died on April 20, 1861 in
Unadilla Township, Livingston, Michigan USA and buried at Williamsville
Cemetery, Unadilla Township, Livingston, Michigan USA.  He married Mary Marsales
on February 25, 1819 in Gore, Prebble, Ontario, Canada and had seven children:
Mary Ann (Elias Junior Smith)(Melville Jonas Titus), Selinda (Selah Brown Fitch
Sr.), Caroline (Alexander McIntyre Parker), Elam (Samantha Elnora
Holt),Loren (Jerusha C. Dunn)(Clara Sibley Norgate), Orange (Phoebe Ellen Vleit)
and Harriet "Hattie" Hopkins (Rominer Holt). He later remarried to Deborah
Townsend in 1833 in Lockport, Niagara, New York USA and had three children:
Amby (Collard Cook), Martha Marilla (Melville Jonas Titus) and Philander Hopkins
Jr.
