LAVAQUE COMPANY G 18TH INF Location: Block 2, Lot 7 Additional Comments: GAR Marker, died 11 May 1929. He was next to the last survivor of the GAR and was flag-bearer for the Post. John was born in Saulte Ste. Marie, Michigan to Isaac, called Trader LaVake and his Indian wife Angelique who were maried at St. Ignace May 13, 1833. John married his 2nd wife, Kate Plaunt, daughter of Michael & Mary LaDuke Plaunt on 20 Jul 1868 in St. Ignace. She is also buried in this location.
