John Joseph Rykala 
Birth:   Nov. 27, 1885
Death:   Sep. 20, 1936
 
Husband of Kathryn, father of Theodore, Stanley & Phyllis, son of Jozef & 
Catherine Rykala

"John J. Rykala, 51 well known Eastlake resident died Sunday at 1 PM at his 
home after 5 months illness.

He was born in Eastlake and lived all his life there serving as postmaster for 
20 years, as township treasurer and clerk and as a member of the village 
board. He operated a grocery store which he brought through the depression 
while other stores in the village closed.

Surviving are his wife, two sons Ted & Stanley and a daughter Phyllis at home."

Birth:   Oct. 17, 1895
Death:   May 2, 1969

Wife of John J., mother of Theodore, Stanley & Phyllis, daughter of Thomas & 
Mary (Fydrych) Olszewski

John and Kathryn Rykala owned and operated the East Lake General Store and 
served as the area Post Master. Kathryn was also a school teacher at Clay Bank 
prior to her marriage to John.
