THE MANISTEE NEWS ADVOCATE - 1942  OBITUARY  MRS. FRED W. BALSAM DIES  (Pg. 3)
Sept. 14,- Mrs. Fred  Balsam - 485  Oxford Ct. died  unexpectedly  Saturday  
evening  about  9 o'clock  at  the  age  of  81 years.  Mrs.  Balsam  was  born 
and  raised  in  Manistee  and  lived  here  all  her  life, she  and  her  
husband  celebrated  their  Golden  Wedding  anniversary  Sept. 12, 1933.  She  
leaves  her  husband  Fred, who  is  84  years  old, A  son  Alva  L. of  
Detroit, and  a  daughter, Mrs. Ruth Germann  of  Hinsdale, ILL. She  also  
leaves  five  grandchildren  and  a  great-grandchild. Another  son  Elmer  
proceded  his  mother  in  death, 1937.  Mr. and  Mrs  Alva  L. Balsam , of  
Detroit  and  Mr. and  Mrs.  Paul German of  Hinsdale, ILL. have  arrived  in  
the  city  for  the  funeral, which  will  be  held  Tuesday  afternoon  at ??  
from  the  Bradford  funeral  home  with  the  Rev.  Raymond  Boadway  
officating. Burial  will  be  in  Oak  Grove  Cemetery. A  grandson  Elmer  G. 
Balsam  will  arrive  from  Billings  Mont.  today.
