PARENTS---Martin Olson & Berygitta Halverson -------------------------------------------- MANISTEE NEWS ADVOCATE--25 Oct. 1918--Page 1 & 6-- 11 MORE INFLUENZA CASES IN CITY; TWO DEAD AT NORWALK---VIGILANCE MUST BE CONTINUED TO CHECK EPIDEMIC---Situation Out In County More Serious Than In Manistee-- NORWALK MAY HAVE HOSPITAL SHORTLY---Red Cross Likely To Take Charge Of Affairs There---Survey Of Rural Districts Made To Determine Need For Nurses---Influeaza developments for the 24 hour perion ending at noon today included; Eleven new cases reported to Health Officer, Dr. E. S. Ellis. Two deaths reported from Norwalk. Two critical cases in both Pierport and Chief. Promise of influenza serum from Mayo Brothers, of Rochester, for free injections, beginning Monday.----Eleven new cases, the largest number to be reported within the city for any previous 24 hour period, were on Dr. E. S. Ellis books this afternoon, and they comprised his daily report telegraphed in to the state health board. This increase is taken not as an alarming indication, but proves that absolute vigilance must be continued in order to prevent the epidemic from gripping the city with the disastrous results which have resulted in other cities. -- The sitution out in the country is occasion for the greatest worry to medical authorities. For some unexplained reason the disease seems to be more virulent there than in the more conjested limits of the city, and the only cases which have resulted fatally have been reported from outlying communities.---Two more are Dead---Fred Goodrich, 71 years old. Mrs. George Goodrich, 35 years old, both of Norwalk. -- Fred Goodrich was one of the pioneers of Manistee county having lived at his Norwalk for more than half a century. He is survived by six children. George, Frank, Sadie and Mrs. Charles Peterson of Norwalk and Mrs. Baldwin, Traverse City and Mrs. Kelso of Detroit. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock and interment will be made in Noewalk cemetery. -- Mrs. Goodrich died at half past six o'clock Thursday evening. She is survived by her husband, four children, her mother, four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
