Frederick Died July 3, 1999 WILLIAMSBURG - William M. Frederick, 78, of Williamsburg, formerly of Arcadia, died Saturday at Birchwood Nursing Center. Born May 23, 1921, in Frankfort, he was the son of Walter and Mary (Baker) Frederick. On Jan. 1, 1949, in Franklin, Ky., he married Elvesta Nelson who preceded him in death on April 5, 1991. He then married Lorraine (Manke) Smeltzer in June 1993, in Benzonia, who survives. He was the owner and operator of the Frederick Service and Pleasant Valley Motel in Arcadia from 1949 to 1975. He was a member of the Traverse City Eagles and the American Legion Post in Frankfort. He served his country faithfully during World War II in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy. Bill is also survived by his children, William (Susie) Frederick of Arcadia, Richard Frederick of Largo, Fla. and Ruth Frederick of Mt. Clemens; stepchildren, Gail (Don) Nugent of Frankfort, Nina Smeltzer of Ludington and Doug (Karen) Smeltzer of Pensacola, Fla.; brother, John (Joyce) of Newport Richey, Fla.; two sisters, Gladys Brown of Largo, Fla. and Arcadia and Mary Mills of Mt. Pleasant; and four grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by a granddaughter at birth and three brothers. Friends may meet with the family from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Frankfort Chapel, McElduff Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Msgr. David Gemuend officiating. Burial will be in Blaine Township Cemetery.
