He was born Feb. 14, 1958, in Frankfort. Douglas earned his bachelor's degree from Grand Valley State University in Allendale. He was the owner and operator of the Arcadia Market, fulfilling his life-long dream. He was an avid fisherman, who loved the outdoors. He also was an avid sports fan. Douglas is survived by his mother, Maxine (Ronald) Mallison of Manistee; brothers and sisters, Scott (Linda) Barnard of Hopkinton, Mass., Shelly (David) Ross of Grand Rapids, Sherry (Marcos) Gaytan of West Olive, and Ronald Mallison Jr. of Flint; several nieces and nephews; and his four-legged companion, Hobbes. On Nov. 19, 1993, in Manistee County, Douglas married Mary I. Leatherman, who preceded him in death in 1999. He was also preceded in death by his father, Donald Barnard in 2004. Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Russ Garrigus officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasanton Township Cemetery.
