Mary I. (Leatherman) Barnard
      Died January 1, 1999
      BENZONIA - Mary I. (Leatherman) Barnard, 38, of Benzonia, died Friday in 
Pleasanton Township, Manistee County.
      Born June 15, 1960, in Frankfort, she was the daughter of George and 
Sheila (Tracy) Leatherman. On Nov. 19, 1993, in Manistee County, she married 
Douglas E. Barnard.
      Mary had graduated from Bear Lake High School, in 1979, and from 
Westshore Community College. She was a home health care provider and member of 
the Eagles Lodge No. 3313 in Frankfort. Mary was an avid fisherman.
      Survivors include her husband, Douglas of Benzonia; her father, George of 
Manistee County; two brothers, George (Jackie) Leatherman of Mesick and Charles 
(Frankie) Leatherman of Bear Lake; two sisters, Georgina (Clare) Ashley of 
Buckley and Wanda Stoddard of Bear Lake; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
      Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Sheila, in 1993; and her 
grandparents, Charles and Mary Leatherman and Frances and Charlotte Tracy.
      Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bennett-
Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Beulah. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. 
Wednesday at the funeral home; the Rev. Russ Garrigus will officiate. Burial 
will be in Pleasantown Township Cemetery in Manistee.
