The marriage of their daughter, Mary, to Thomas Rickets was announced and everything was apparently nicely arranged for the ceremony. Rabbi Rowland was on hand to tie the nuptial knot, and among the guests were Captain Peter Pascoe. Ca (unreadable), son Barney Levine, John Pascoe, Albert Kettle, Mack Levine, and Peter Stamp. They were waiting in the spacious parlors for the appearance of the happy young couple when to the consternation of all present, the infuriated parents of the bride, who it appears had not fully given their consent to the marriage, put in an appearance with guns and clubs, and ordered the guests to vacate the premises immediately. It is needless to add that the exit was rapid, so much so, that the doors scarcely wide enough for the emergency and the windows were resorted to. In fact it amounted to a stampede, in which more or less were injured, but fortunately not seriously. With the exception of Carl Peterson losing his hat and Barney Levine the rear portion of his dress coat there was no perceivable damage. Thomas and Mary are still living in blessed singleness.
