Big Rapids Pioneer 10 Jun 1943:
HIGBEE DISTRICT - Joseph Gundy, 58, died Wednesday at Butterworth hospital in 
Grand Rapids.  He was the husband of the former Miss Iva Sedore of Higbee and 
was well known in the Higbee district where he frequently visited.  

Mr. Gundy was captain of a fire crew at No. 11 engine house in Grand Rapids 
and had been employed by the fire department for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, Iva, and a 12 year old son, Richard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Burton 
Spring Funeral Home in Grand Rapids.  Burial will be in the Higbee cemetery 
Saturday afternoon.
