A Mrs. Potter, who lives in the town of Austin, was coming to Stanwood on a load fo shingles, carrying a two months old babe in her arms, when the wheels on one side of the wagon dropped into a rut, throwing her off the load. In the fall, she dropped her child; it fell under the wagon, and a wheel crushed its head, killing it instantly. Within a quarter of a mile of the point where the accident occurred, lives a Mrs. Carmes, aged 93, who is remarkably hale and hearty for a person of her years, doing housework for a family of three - her son, grandson and herself.
