He died Nov. 27, 1915 in Fork Twp., Mecosta Co., MI. He was married July 24, 1872 to Phebe M. Marble. He was married to Mary A. Jewell July 4, 1859. John's parents were Bergon C. & Catherine (Hagerman) Covert. OBITUARY--DECEMBER 2, 1915 SUDDEN DEMISE OF RESPECTED RESIDENT Sudden death came to John H. Covert, of Northeast Fork, on the morning of Nov. 27th. After having performed his usual labor and chores the preceding day, he was evidently feeling as well as usual, but on the morning of the 27th when his little grandson went to call him for breakfast, they discovered that he was to awake in this world no more. He was born on January 31, 1836, in Seneca Co., N. Y. , and in the following year his parents moved to Oakland county, Michigan and lived there until the fall of 1844, when he moved to Gaines township, Genesee county. There he made the acquaintance of Miss Mary A. Jewell, whom he married on July 4rh, 1859. To them were born five children, Jesse B., Alvina Ann, Martin E., Alonzo J. and Claud A., His wife died March 3rd, 1870. He remained single until July 24th, 1872, when he married Mrs. Phebe Marble, a widow with one son, Jerrie D. To them was born three children--Lena M., Charles H. and Mary I. He resided in Gaines until 1897, when he and his family moved to Fork township, Mecosta Co. His wife, Phebe, died April 18, 1905, and his remaining years were spent with his son, Charles, and wife. His children that survive him are Mrs. Joseph Harris, Mr M. E. Covert and Mrs. William Brewer of Flint. A. J. Covert of Gaines; C.W. Whitmore, of Clinton Ontario; Mrs. Abner Tibbits of Monday township and Charles H. Covert, with whom he resided; also one brother, Robert Covert, of Linden, all being present at his funeral except Jerrie Marble, Claude Whitmore and Robert Covert.
