Lee Guy Bilyea b. July 24, 1921 in Barryton, Mecosta Co., MI. Died Mar. 24, 
1944 in Edmore, Montcalm Co., MI.

 A FEW FACTS ABOUT L.G. BILYEA'S LIFE

	Mrs. Pearl Bilyea calls to our attention a clipping from the Edmore 
paper which states that her grandson, L. G. Bilyea who shot himself, had been 
the victim of a baseball while in his senior year at Edmore high school in 
1939, and had only returned from Henry Ford hospital in Detroit a few days 
before his fatal act.  She states he suffered spells of numbness induced by 
his injury, suffering several attacks some days.  He tried, unsuccessfully, to 
enlist in any branch of the armed services to be with his schoolmates, but was 
turned down by his draft board because of his injury.

	          FORMER LOCAL BOY IS SUICIDE VICTIM

	Despondency over poor health and the fact that he had been rejected by 
the army was given as the reason why Lee G. Bilyea, 22, of Edmore, shot 
himself through the heart in the kitchen of the family residence in Edmore.  
He was found by his father, William Bilyea, a 16-gauge shotgun at his side.
	Surviving besides the father are a step-mother and two sisters, Mrs. 
Kenneth Camp of Edmore and Mrs. Evangeline Wuff, of Detroit.
