He was a retired farmer. Born January 23, 1877 in Finland. He came to Houghton County and later came to the Bagley area where he resided on a farm there for 45 years. His wife preceded him in death in 1948; also one son and one daughter also preceded him in death. Surviving are seven daughters, Miss Marie Waisanen, Mrs. Frank (Elsie) Acker, Mrs. Jack (Verna) Bohl, all of Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Reina (Sally) Lystila and Miss Irene and Miss Sylvia Waisanen of Detroit; Mrs. Raymond (Viola) Hurd of West Allis, Wis. five sons, Arnie Waisanen of Amasa, Mich.; George of Neenah, Wis.; Arthur of Omaha, Neb.; Paul of Flint, Mich., and Albert of Kansas City, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Strandt Funeral Home with Rev. Melvin Klokow officiating. Burial was in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Oakwood. Pallbearers were Carl Salo, Erick Houtari, John Harkonen, George Klemolin, Jack Bohl, Raymond Hurd. During the service Rev and Mrs. Klokow sang "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Near The Cross." Mrs. Klokow played the organ accompaniment. Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hurd and sons of West Allis; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Acker, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bohl of Waukegan, IL; Mrs. Reina Lystila and Miss Irene Waisanen of Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Arnie Waisanen of Amasa; George Waisanen of Neenah, Wis.' Arthur Waisanen of Omaha, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Waisanen of Flint; Albert Waisanen of KansasCity, MO. Additional Comments: Before settling on the farm in Bagley, Menominee County, Michigan, Abram worked at the Baltic Copper Mine in Houghton County, Michigan from 1900 to 1910. He became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States in 1904.
