PELTIER (dit Pelletier, dit Antaya), son of Isidore Peltier and Sophie SALOMON, was born in Detroit on May 26, 1799. Ezekiel lineage goes back to Nicolas PELLETIER, a master carpenter, who immigrated from Gallardon, France to Quebec City, New France in 1636. Father Gabriel Richard married Ezekiel and Marie Veronique LaDuc in Detroit on January 24, 1826. Ezekiel and Marie moved to Frenchtown in Monroe, Michigan sometime that year. There is a 1827 record of Ezekiel owning property in Frenchtown on the south side of Wate Stree and bounded south by River Raisin. Ezekiel was a farmer and a dry goods merchant for a William H. BOYD. Eventually, Ezekiel opened his own dry goods store in a brick building he owned in Monroe. The store was bounded by Front Street on the North, Crane, Sanklie, and south by the Exchange lot. Ezekiel served as Monroe trustee in 1827, Monroe township assessor in 1832, city officer in 1838 & 1839, city alderman in 1840 and 1842. He died on March 17, 1848 in Monroe and is buried in St. Joseph's cemetery section 1. Ezekiel and Marie had nine children and they are as follows: (1) Dorothy Matilda PELTIER, born December 25, 1826, married Phillip Justine LORANGER on April 8, 1845; (2) Marie Elizabeth PELTIER, born February 1, 1829, married Prosper DESNOYER on ? ; (3) Ezekiel Abrahm PELTIER, born October 17, 1830, married Sarah M. ANDREWS on ? ; (4) Edmund S. PELTIER, born June 23, 1833, married Mary A. NADEAU on ? ; (5) Josephine PELTIER born April 14, 1835, married Hilary CICOTTE on October 19, 1853; (6) Loanna PELTIER, born March 27, 1838, died August, 23, 1838; (7) Henrietta PELTIER, born June 21, 1840, died September 1, 1860; (8) Mariet PELTIER, born July 11, 1842, married Alexander Toussaint NAVARRE on May 5, 1868; and (9) Phillip Baptise PELTIER, born August 31, 1845, married Mary Frances HAMILTON on January 28, 1874. Dorothy Loranger, Marie Desnoyer, Ezekiel Peltier, Edmund Peltier, Josephine Cicotte, Loanna Peltier, and Mariet Navarre are all buried in St. Joseph's cemetery. Henrietta Peltier is buried in Monroe but the location is unknown. Phillip Peltier is buried in Gracelawn Cemetery, Flint, Michigan. This biographical sketch was written by William H.
