March 2, 1905 MRS JACOB BLANKERTZ In the death of Mrs. Jacob Blankertz the small boy and the little girl lose a dear friend, a lady who was possessed with an exceptionally patient nature and was always cheery and pleasant. No little one ever went to "Blankertz" to spend his penny that was not greeted with as much consideration as the purchaser of the most expensive toys. In the days before the funeral hundreds of children called to view the remains of "Auntie" Blankertz. Margaret Haberfelner was born in Furth, Bavaria, Germany, Jan. 28th, 1832. In the year of 1847, together with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Haberfelner she left her native country and came direct to Monroe. At the age of 21 she was united in marriage to Adam Waldorf (sic). In 1848 Mr. Waldorf died and in 1868 she was again united in marriage to Jacob Blankertz. Mr. and Mrs. Waldorf started in business 52 years ago at their store on No. 2 Front St. and where deceased has lived up to her death. She is survived by a husband seven children, Adam Waldorf, Detroit; Miss Minnie Waldorf, Monroe; Mrs. Christ Burck, Monroe; Herman Blankertz, Dearborn; Mrs. Charles Spear, Frenchtown; Mrs. George Morlock, LaSalle; Ferdinand Blankertz, Detroit; two sisters, Mrs. Martin Loefler and Mrs. George Cron and twelve grandchildren. Deceased was ill with bronchial pneumonia for five days and on Thursday, Feb. 23rd she answered the call of her Maker. During her lifetime she was a kind and loving wife and was a devoted church member. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from Trinity Lutheran church, Rev. Frincke officiating. Three sons and three son-in-laws acted as pall bearers. The funeral was largely attended and her many friends mourn her sudden departure. Note: I have to confess; I don't know what RC stands for.
