Bondy, 65, who moved to Phoenix, Ariz. from Monroe in 1986, died at 5:42 a.m. Sunday at his son's home in LaSalle. He had been in poor health for two years and seriously ill for two weeks. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Rupp Funeral Home, where prayers will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home and 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Anthony Sulkowski, Pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Robert Bower of St. Patrick's Catholic Church will co-officiate. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery under the auspices of Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Born May 18, 1931 in Detroit, he was the son of Edward and Beatrice (Barron) Bondy. He married Joann M. Lerch on June 26, 1954 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ida. He was employed by Consumers Power Co., Whiting Plant, for 15 years as a mechanical Maintenance repairman and then worked for Ford Motor Co., Monroe, as a Millwright for 15 years until his medical retirement in 1983. He served with the Marine Corps, during the Korean War, as a private first class from July 13, 1948, to July 12, 1952, serving in Seoul, Republic of Korea, Guam and Subic Bay, in the Republic of the Philippines. He aided in the capture of Seoul, Republic of Korea, and participated in the Wonsan-Hungnam-Chosin Campaign. He Received the Korean Service Medal with two stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a life member of Monroe Post 1138, Veterans of Foreign Wars; a former member of Monroe Council 1266, Knights of Columbus; a former member of Carl F. Payson Post 60, American Legion; a former member of Monroe Local 723, United Auto Workers, and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ida. Surviving are his wife; two sons Marl J of LaSalle and Matthew G. of Baltic, S.D., three daughters, Mrs Joseph (Lynne M.) Bauer of Dundee, Mrs. Michael (Karin A) Stewart and Mrs. Joseph (Ruth A.) ! Detloff of Waterford; two brothers, Edward and Frederick, both of Monroe, seven grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents and a grandson Josha M. Bondy.
