These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations. *************************************************************** Herman Walldorf, noted Real Estate Leader, Dies Chattanooga News-Free Press 1942 Herman William Walldorf, a leading real estate executive among the most well-known and longest serving in the Chattanooga area, died Sunday in a local nursing home. Born and raised in the Hill City area of North Chattanooga near the Walnut Street Bridge, he was first educated at Lutheran School and later graduated from Central High School. After serving for a brief time as the owner of an automobile repair business he joined Ferger Brothers as a real estate salesman. In 1933, he joined American National Bank in its real estate department and then opened his own real estate company in 1943. He later became partners with the late John L. McKenzie. Mr Walldorf served as President of Herman Walldorf and Co. and Walldorf Management co. Inc. He had also held several offices, including president, of both the Chattanooga and Tennessee Association of Realtors. He was recently recognized as the first honorary lifetime member of the Chattanooga Board, retiring last fall. He was also very active in the community and was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, the Half Century Club, Mountain City Club and the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. Her was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Mr. Walldorf was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Holzer Walldorf. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Roddy Walldorf, children, Eunie and Albert Lee Smith, both of Birmingham, Ala., Rudy and Ann Walldorf, Charlie and Flora Walldorf, Roddy and Jill Noll, all of Chattanooga; and 11 grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Ben Haden officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.
