Lautner - March 26 1969 - Unknown Paper SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - E. F. (Dutch) Lautner, 65, former Monroe resident and operator of the old Monroe Steam Laundry, died yesterday morning in his hime in San Antonio. Private Episcopal services will be at 2 p. m. tomorrow in Porter Loring Chapel, 323 S. Mc Cullough, San Antonio. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D. C. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, Monroe, or to the Society for Crippled Children. Born Jan. 16, 1904, in Traverse City, he graduated from the University of Michigan in 1926. He married Mildred Burck, also a University of Michigan graduate, and they lived in Monroe from 1929 until 1960. He had operated the Monroe Steam Laundry at E. Front and Macomb Sts., now the site of a city parking lot, from 1946 until it closed more that a year before Mr. Lautner left Monroe. He went to Verdon, France, in 1960 as a U. S. Civil Service manager of the laundry and drycleaning establishment at the Army base there. Later he had a similar post in Hawaii, returning to the United States last August after suffering a stroke. During World War II Mr. Lautner held the rank of captain in the Army while managing laundries at various large military installations. He was a member of Monroe Lodge 27, F and AM, and of the Moslem Temple Shrine in Detroit. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Griswold of Clifton Springs, N. Y.; a sister, Miss Elsie Lautner of Traverse City; two brothers, Robert Lautner of Traverse City and Ernest Lautner of Florida and two grandchildren, Jan and Stephen Griswold.
