These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organizations. *************************************************************** Monroe Evening News, February 22, 1941 Lewis Johnston Died This Morning Lewis Frederick Johnston. 48 years old, a native of Monroe and for the last two yers a sales executive of the Chrysler Sales Corporation in Detroit, died this morning at his home on Washington road in Grosse Pointe. Mr. Johnston had been seriously ill since December. Mr, Johnston attended the public schools here, graduating from the high school with the calss of 1912. He has been connected with the Chrysler Corporation for 15 years, serving previously in Cleveland and for some time as manager of the Chicago sales branch. With his family he has resided in Grosse Pointe since 1939 and frequently visited Monroe. His father died when Mr. Johnston was quite young and he made his home with his mother and stepfather, Thomas Waters, at 303 Washington street. His mother and stepfather are both dead. Mr. Johnston served during the World War as an instructor at Ann Arbor and at an officers' training camp in Illinois. In 1919 he married Evelyn Reed, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs Charles W. Reed of East Sixth street. Surviving are the widow, one son, Lewis Frederick, jr., and a sister, Mrs Kendrick Reed of Grosse Pointe. Funeral Services have been tenatively arranged for Monday at the Hamilton funeral home, 3975 Cass avenue, in Detroit. Burial will be in the family Plot at Woodland cemetery here. jic
