He was born in Schifferstadt, Bavaria, 1822. At the age of 26 he immigrated to America, and five years later located in Monroe, where he remained until 1855, when he moved to Adrian. In 1869 he moved back to this county and settled on the old homestead in Raisinville. Mr. Maurer was a man of strong convictions, a life-long democrat and raised a family of seven democratic sons. By trade the deceased was a mason, but has not worked at it since 1869. He leaves a widow and seven sons. Funeral services were held in St. Michael's Church, and largely attended, yesterday. Rev. Fr. Schmittdiel officiated. The pallbearers were his six sons, John, Henry, George, Charles, Jacob, and Frank Maurer.
