RICE.....Bessie O. Rice, age 82 of Monroe, MI, passed away Thur., April 2, 1998 in Greenbrook Manor Nursing Home. She was born Sept.18, 1915 in Harrogate, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Edward and Minervia (Herrell) Woodward; husband, Roy E. Rice; two infant sons, David and Ben Lee Rice; brother, Edward; sister, Virgieia. She was a librarian for Dorsch Memorial Library in Monroe, retiring in the mid- 1980s. She was a member of ODS Chapter #232 in Tazewell and past worthy Matron. Survivors: sons, Daniel E. Rice of Ponta Gorda,FL, Lynn F. Rice of Carleton and Kermit of Monroe, Mich.; daughter, Mrs John H. (Janice) Weiman of Newprot, MI; brothers, Thomas Woodward of Memphis and Wade (Brown) Woodward of Tazewell; sisters, Maggie Mae Gable of Monroe, Hazel Carter of Tazewell, and Reva Smith of Cocoa, FL; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral service Sat., April 4 at 11am in Earle Little Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Bryant, pastor of Union Stree Missionary Baptist Church of Monroe, Michigan of which she was a member. dz
