Rev. E.C. Stinger will officiate and burial will be in London cemetary. Mr. Smith died as the result of injuries received when he was struck by an automobile Monday night on the corner of Main and Wabash streets. The accident occurred shortly after nine o'clock and was witnessed by a number of local people. he was rushed to the office of a local physician, but passed away before he could be taken to the hospital. Mr. Smith, who was eighty-two years old was returning to his home on marvin street where he lived with Arthur Smith. He evidently did not see the approaching automobile and was struck by the car as he approached the middle of the street. He was severely hurt and was carried several feet along the pavement. The automobile was driven by Miss Margaret Weller of Dundee, and according to witnesses of the accident was neither going at an excessive rate of speed nor was she going thru a red light. Dr. David Robb, corner for Washtenaw county was called tothe scene of the accident and will call an inquest some time this week. Mr. Smith leaves one son, Bert, of London township and a number of nieces and nephews. OBITUARY Charles C. Smith, fourth son of the late George and Eliza Burgess Smith was born near Oakville on July 6th, 1852. His parent came to America from England several years before when this locality was almost a wilderness. As a youth, he grew up in the midst of a large family and knew all the hardship of early pioneer life. On December 29th, 1874, he married Miss Henretta H. Wirth of London Township. From this union one son Albert Lee was born. They soon bouth a home next to Mrs. Smith's parents, where they continued to live for many years. On October 10, 1926, his wife passed to the great beyond and in 1930 he came to Milan to make his home with a nephew, Arthur E. Smith, where he remained until his sudden death on June 25th, 1934, lacing but eleven days of reaching eighty two years. He leaves to mourn his loss, the son at the old home, a brother, Vernon E. Smith of London township and several nieces and nephews, also a large circle of friends who will mis the presence of one who was kind and genial andwho had a good word for all. Funeral services were held at the Oakville M.E. Church on Thrusday with interment in the family lot at the London cemetary.
