R. 4-9-1903 Obituary Wellington Waldorf (sic) On Friday occurred the death of Wellington Waldorf (sic) of Chicago, also a former resident of this city. Mr. Waldorf (sic) was born in this city in the year 1855 and was the son of Mr. And Mrs. Frederick Waldorf (sic). He spent his school days in Monroe till he had prepared himself for a good college education when he entered the Notre Dame University from which he graduated. After perfecting his education he returned to this city and went into business with his father who was proprietor of what is now known as the City Mills. He continued in this until after the death of his father when he went out of the flour business and started the well known Waldorf (sic) paper mill on the dock. He ran this mill until he removed to Chicago. On Nov. 27, 1882 he married Miss Adelaide Reynolds, the union being blessed by two sons, Whilhelm and Wellington, the former dying at the age of four. Five years ago Mr. Waldorf (sic) gave up his business and removed to Chicago with his wife and son, where he accepted an excellent position with H. H. Kollsatt & Company. His position was one of great trust and responsibility and he at once became one of the most valuable employees of the firm. During the past year or two his health slowly declined and five days before his death, he became violently ill, dying on Friday the 3rd, of a complication of diseases. The remains were brought to his old home in this city accompanied by his wife and son, the funeral being held from the old Waldorf (sic) homestead, Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. Chas. O'Meara of the Trinity Episcopal church officiating. The interment being at Woodlawn. His Chicago employees as a token of their respect and esteem sent a fine floral design consisting of 200 beautiful roses to the bereaved family. The deceased leaves many warm friends both in this city and in Chicago. ______________________________________ Monroe Democrat April 10, 1903 Mortuary. H.
