Walldorf Dies at Age 72 Was Resident of City 42 years January 8, 1940 Unknown Newspaper William F. Walldorf, a resident of Chattanooga for nearly 42 years, died on the morning of Jan. 8 at his home, 118 Baker Avenue. He was born Nov. 18, 1868, the son of Ludwig Walldorf and his wife Barbara (nee Holzman). He received his education in the Lutheran Parish School of Monroe, Mich., and then learned the craft of woodworking and carriage-making. On Nov. 21 1893, he was married to Miss Mary Ann Henrich and their union was blessed with five children, three of whom have preceded their father to their final home. In the spring of 1898, he removed to Chattanooga with his family and had made his home here ever since. For 16 years he operated a woodworking and carriage-making shop in the old No ! fire hall, 401 West Ninth Street, and lived to see Chatanooga grow up into a large modern city. Mr. Walldorf is survived by his wife, his son, Herman Walldorf, of Chattanooga, and his daughter Mrs. John Zirkelbach, of Birmingham, three grandchildren, one older brother, and numerous other relatives. He was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church for over 40 years. He reached the age of 71 years 1 month and 21 days. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Price-Hancock. William F. Walldorf - Unknown Newspaper 1940 William F. Walldorf, 71, retired woodworker and carriage maker, and resident of Chattanooga for 42 years, died yesterday morning at his home, 118 Baker Street. Mr. Walldorf was born Nov. 18, 1868, the son of Ludwig Walldorf and Mrs. Barbara Holzman Walldorf. He was educated in the Lutheran parish school in Monroe, Mich., and was married to Miss Mary Ann Henrich in 1893. He came to Chattanooga with his family in 1898 and for sixteen years operated a woodworking and carriage making shop in the old No. 1 firehall building, 401 West Ninth street. He us survived by his wife; a son, Herman, Chattanooga; daughter, Mrs. John Zirkelbach, Birmingham; brother, Fred, of Trenton Mich: three grandchildren. He was a member of the First Lutheran church more that forty years. Brief services will be held at the home tomorrow afternoon at 1:49 o'clock, followed by services at 2:30 at the First Lutheran church. The Rev. R.C. Jahn will be the officiating minister.
