Austin, aged 49 years, wife of Lester Austin. The deceased was born in New York City, July 2, 1834, was married Nov. 2, 1850 to Lester Austin. She had been a resident of Carson City and vicinity for the past twenty one years. She was a devoted mother of nine children, six of whom are still living. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. P.K. Shutter at the M. E. Church on Sunday. The remains were taken to Hubbardston for interment. In her brief illness of six days she was a great sufferer, but was ever hopeful. Everything the affection of medical skill could provide proved unavailing. Her hour had come. She was a faithful wife and a self-sacrificing and loving mother, a trusted friend and a useful member of society. Sister Austin was for many years a worthy member of the M.E. Church and was known as an earnest worker in the Sabbath school and temperance cause. One who found her own happiness in doing good to others and may it be said of her, as with Mary of Bethany, "She hath done what she could". The sympathy of a large circle of friends is extended to the husband and the family in their sorrow and bereavement."
