She was born March 10, 1025 in Saginaw the daughter of Fred and Alice (Bueker) Balesky. She graduated from Hemlock High School and went on to attend St. Mary’s Nursing Academy in Saginaw. On July 15, 1951 she married John Roy Brooks in Vassar, MI. Ruth was one of the first nurses at Carson City Hospital and also spent several years working as a nurse for Ithaca Public Schools and Gratiot County Head Start, before her retirement. She was a member of the Carson City United Methodist Church, the Carson City American Legion Auxiliary, the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Red Cross. Ruth was also a member of the Carson City Art Club and especially enjoyed painting. She ran the Carson City Doll Hospital out of her home for many years and enjoyed golfing and sewing. Ruth is survived by her children, Barbara (Keven Berklund) Brooks, Fred (Elizabeth) Brooks, Mary (Melvin) Pasch and Judy (Dale) Evitts, grandchildren, Ericka (Mike) Sikkenga, Noah (Alison), Anna Catherine and Miriam Brooks, Emily, Jill and Chase Hosmer, Sarah (Ryan Brancamp) Pasch, Kevin (Lauren) Pasch and Hazel Evitts, great-grandchildren, Ethan and Olivia Kipp, Adam, Asher and Malachi Sikkenga, Paisley and Lillian Hosmer. Also a sister, Doris Kennard and sisters-in-law, Margaret Balesky, Ruth Brooks and Ethel Durbin. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John in 1999, a brother, F. Jack Balesky and a brother-in-law, Burt Kennard. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 11 am at the Lux and Schenpp Funeral Home in Carson City. Interment will follow in Carson City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 29th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
