Carson City Gazette, Thurs., July 12, 1945
Mrs. Emma DeYoung passed way Monday morning at her home in Crystal, aged 80 
years. She was born in Bushnell township, Montcalm county, May 2, 1865, and was 
the daughter of George W. and Sara E. Winegar Collins.

She was united in marriage to Charles F. Sherwood March 26, 1882. One son, 
Frank C. was born to them, dying in infancy. Following his death, they adopted 
her nephew, Ted R. Sherwood who is now a resident of Carson City. Mr. Sherwood 
died June 18,1915 and was buried in the cemetery at Palo.

Later Mrs. Sherwood, who was residing at Palo, was united in marriage to 
Cornelius DeYoung of Crystal and has since resided at Crystal. She was highly 
esteemed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Huyck funeral home in 
Crystal and interment was made in the Palo cemetery.
