Joseph Henry Ditto was the son of Pierre & Marie (Boudreau) Duteau.  Joseph 
was born in Canada near Montreal.  Joseph apparently became acquainted with 
Lawson Stearns and his family which lived in the northern part of New York 
that was south of Montreal.  When Lawson Stearns and his family moved to 
Geauga Co., Ohio so did Joseph.  Joseph married Lawson & Emily (Ferris) 
Stearns daughter - Mary Etta Stearns.  They had three sons: Frank S., Ernest 
H. and Charles J.  After Charles' education (attended Plumbing school), 
Joseph, Mary and their youngest son, Charles, left for Michigan. I am 
uncertain if they spent a significant amount of time in Montcalm Co. as that 
is where much of Mary Etta's family had moved - the Ferris' and the Stearns'.  
Joseph and Mary relocated to Petoskey in Emmet Co., Michigan where he built a 
house.  Joseph and Mary lived the remainder of their lives in Emmet Co. but 
both are buried at the Ferris Center Cemetery amoung family in Montcalm Co.
