Herrick Districk Library, Obituaries (1940-2003) Holland, Michigan
Richard Louis Drews, 83, of Muskegon and formerly of Newaygo, died Sunday, 
April 4, 1999 at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon.
He was born in Chicago, IL, on Nov 21, 1915, his parent were Clare V. Owen and 
Carl Drews. 
On May 5, 1951 he married Helen Visscher, she preceded him in death in 1974. 
On Oct 20, 1974 he married Virginia Byron in Newaygo. He was a welder for 
Dresser Industries until 1977 and he was also the former owner of the Debra-
Lin Motel in Grant.
He is Survived by his wife Virginia; his family, Linda and Richard Chipman of 
Kentwood, Debra and John Doornbos of Holton, Twila and Tony Walker of Idaho, 
Faith Beamer of Minnesota, Dawn Dykes of Kansas, and Star Masten of 
California; 23 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday April 7, 1999 at the McKinley Funeral Homes 
Newaygo Chapel, with Rev. Donald Fry officiating. Burial is in Parkview 
Cemetery.
