George Merritt; 1844; D. 05 Jul 1900

Additional Comments:
Civil War Veteran.  Served in Co "H", 8th Ohio Infantry, and Co "G", 6th US 
Cavalry.  Wounded @ Gettysburg.  Taken prisoner & sent to Libby Prison and to 
Bell Isle.  Enlisted in 8th Ohio Infantry, 06 June 1861.  Discharged 22 Oct 
1862.  Re-enlisted in 6th US Cavalry, Feb., 1864; Mustered out, 10 July 1865, 
Camp Chase, Ohio.  Cause of death was Aortic Insufficiency, Asthma & Dropsy.  
Buried 07 July 1900.  His father was Thomas Merritt.  Wife was Harriet Adelaine 
Merritt.
