Officer Will Leave Service at End of 
        Present Week.


  Deputy Sheriff John E. Calbert to-
day tendered to Sheriff Harris his
resignation of that postition. Mr. 
Calbert stated that he had other plans
in view as a reason for his resigna-
tion, but that they are not yet ready
for announcement. He will remain
at the jail office and assist Sheriff
Harris this week, until another official
is named.

  Mr. Calbert has been a member of
the sheriff's force in this county for
the past five years and has an efficient
record as an officer. He was first ap-
pointed by ex-sheriff George Greer, 
and was re-appointed by Sheriff Harris
when he came into office.
