Bailey died at his home in Commerce township at 11a.m. on Monday July 13, 1908, after a protracted illness with tuberculosis. For the past year he had been steadily failing but was not confined to his bed until a short time before the end. The funeral was conducted at the M.E. Church Wednesday forenoon by the Rev. Scofleld and the burial occured at West Highland Cemetery. Mr. Bailey was the son of the late Joseph Bailey and was born in Commerce township in November, 1860 and lived in this vicinity all his life. He was twice married [1st to Ida Beatty] and leaves a widow [Mae Cooper] and four [Norman, b.1898; Elmer b. 1901 plus two unknown] children, also two brothers, Wallace and Samuel Bailey, and five sisters, Mrs. [Hannah Bailey] Teeples, Mrs [Susan Bailey] Thos. Long of Commerce, Mrs. [Mary Bailey] James Scott of Davisburg, Mr. Belle Francy of Bennett, Iowa and Mrs. Eliza Moore of Omaha, Neb. Additional Comments: In a "gossip item" of the Milford Times, same date, was a notice about who attended Will's wake. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Scott of Davisburg, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Bailey and daughter of S. Lyon, Mrs. Chester Skarritt, Ernest and Ida Bailey of White Lake, Mrs. Will Bailey and Miss Goldie Teeples of Commerce, Mrs. L.D. Gay and Mrs. Geo Barton of Milford spent Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bailey at Highland.
