VAN WAGONER 70 IS TAKEN BY DEATH Resident here for many years succumbs at home at 9 A.M. today. Mate Van Wagoner, 70 years of age, a resident of Owosso and vicinity the larger part of his life, and an employee of the consumer's Power Company for the past 10 years, expired at 9 o'clock this morning at his home, 728 West Main Street. Mr. Van Wagoner had been confined to his home for the past five weeks and for two weeks had been in critical condition. Death was attributed to hardening of the arteries. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Knapp and Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harvey Wait, of Royal Oak, former pastor of the First Baptist Church here, officiating. Internment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery, west of Owosso. Mr. Van Wagoner was born at Oxford, Mich. in 1862, the son of Lemuel and Fanny Van Wagoner. He came to Shiawassee County as a young man settling in the vicinity of Owosso. Thirty-three years ago, Mr. Van Wagoner was married to Miss Bertha Wilson at Saginaw. They settled at Orion, where they made their home for the following 12 years. Then they moved to Owosso and have resided here or in the immediate vicinity since. The widow and one son by a former marriage, Lloyd Van Wagoner survive. The son's whereabouts are unknown, he not having been heard since last November, when he went to Missouri. State Police have broadcast over WRDS and the Missouri police radio in an effort to locate them. There is an adopted daughter, Miss Arlene Van Wagoner, two sisters, Mrs. F.R. Monroe, of Owosso, and Mrs. Frank Richards of Orion, and two brothers, Frank Van Wagoner of Owosso, and Lemuel Van Wagoner, of Detroit.
