James R. Chapple, Sr., age 79 of Waterford, passed away November 17,
1998 at his residence in Waterford.  James was born the son of William
C. and Glendora A. (Hatfield) Chapple on January 27, 1919 in Clare.  He
married the former Verona H. Wagner, and she pre-deceased him on
September 16, 1997.  James was a member of American Legion Post #377
(Chief Pontiac Post).
 James was predeceased by a brother William.
     Funeral Services were held on Saturday, November 21, 1998 at l:00
pm at theStephenson-Wyman Funeral Home, with Rev. Tom Ball officiating. 
Burial will be in the Vernon Twp. Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to
the Cranbrook Hospice.  Arrangements by the Stephenson-Wyman Funeral
Home Inc. of Clare.
