E.R. DAY, PIONEER IS TAKEN IN DEATH

Had been a resident of Flint for nearly half a century.
Eugene R. Day, 1166 Oak St., a resident of Flint for nearly half a century died
in Hurley hospital last night of uremic poisoning.  He was 79 years old. 

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 PM. at the Alcoe Gundry Company chapel
under the auspices of Genesee Valley Commandery, No. 15, Knights Templar, of
which he had been a member for a number of years.  Dr. Walter R. Freuit of Court
St. M.E. church will preach the funeral sermon.  Burial will take place in Grace
Lawn cemetery.
Eugene R. Day was born in Lafayette, New Jersey, June 23, 1851, a son of Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Day.  He came to Michigan with his parents when he was four years
old and spent his early life on a farm near Pontiac.  He had lived in Flint for
47 years.  He was married Oct. 8, 1873 to Eva Van Wagoner at Orion.  Mr. Day
became a Mason in Jackson, Mich. 50 years ago.  Besides the Knights Templar he
was a member of Genesee lodge No., 174 Washington chapter, No. 15, R.A.M., and
Flint council, No. 76, R. & S.M.G.
He leaves his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Myler J. Smith of Detroit, Mrs. Floyd
M. Glover, Mrs. Arthur C. Gundry of Fint; one son Bernie J., of Flint; three
brothers, Frank P. of Closter, New Jersey; Elmer M. of Detroit, and Wilson T.,
of Pontiac, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Carpenter of Pontiac. (
