Mr. Hitchcock was born at Wolf Island, Kingston, Ontario, on April 26, 1843, was united in marriage with Miss Ctherine Padro, of Chatham, Ontario, coming here about 40 years ago, where he lived on a farm for a number of years before moving to the village. Mr. Hitchcock had been ailing for the past five years, having been confined to his bed, however, only about a week. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Roseby Botsford, of this village; five sisters, Mrs. Lena Dean, of Jackson; Mrs. Fannie Cromwell, Mrs. Ada Irwin, Miss Laura Hitchcock, of Detroit, and Mrs. Hariett Dawson of Chatham, the latter two of whom are very ill, besides a large number of other relatives, and many warm friends. Mr. Hitchcock was a member of the local lodge of Masons, having been its Tyler for the past 18 years, the services at the grave in Oakwood having been under the direction of the lodge. The funeral was held at the M.E. Church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. George Cullen of Detroit, assisted by Rev. J.S.
