MONROE TAKEN BY DEATH Death is attributed to a heart Attack Mrs. John R. Monroe, a resident of the Owosso area for almost 40 years died suddenly at her home in Owosso township, just north of the city on M-47 at 4:20 P.M. Wednesday. Death was due to a heart attack induced by bronchial pneumonia with which she was stricken a few weeks ago. For the past two years she had been in failing health but, until stricken with pneumonia, she had not been confined to her home. Wednesday morning despite her illness which at that time did not seem to be serious, she moved about the house as usual and even prepared dinner, Shortly after 4 o'clock, she felt suddenly ill and went to bed. She died 10 minutes later. Funeral services will be held from the Knapp and Smith Funeral Home at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, Rev. CHA Lyon will officiate and interment will be made in Oak Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Monroe was born in Oxford, Mich, on April 26, 1865, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Van Wagoner. She lived in Oxford until she was 14 years old at which time she came to the Owosso vicinity to live. She had lived near Owosso since. She was married on May 27, 1885, to John R. Monroe and the couple had one daughter, now deceased. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Surviving are her husband, one sister, Mrs. Roxie Richards, of Oregon and two brothers, Frank Van Wagoner, of Owosso and Lemuel Van Wagoner of Detroit. The body will rest at the home, one mile north of the city limits on M-47, until Saturday morning when it will be removed to the funeral home for services.
