The funeral was held at the M.E. church Friday at 1:30, Rev. J.J. Davies officiating. Ettie J. McVean was born in Orion, Oakland County, Michigan, September 16, 1851. Here she resided with her parents until she was united in marriage October 15, 1873 to Philo Van Wagoner, late ex-sheriff of this city. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Orion until 1881 when they came to Iowa, at which time they purchased a farm north of Ida Grove. In 1890 they moved to Ida Grove where they lived until the death of Philo Van wagoner in August 1919, when she went to make her home with her daughter, Mrs Lawrence Kuhl of Arthur, where she remained most of the time until her death. Mrs. Van Wagoner joined the Methodist church at a very early age and has been a life long member ever since. She was also a member of the Arthur Chapter, No 471 order of eastern Star. Besides the daughter with whom she lived, Mrs. Van Wagoner leaves a daughter Nita, and a son Philo Jr., three brothers, Peter and James of Orion, and Duncan of Pontiac, Mich., to mourn her death, besides a host of friends and grandchildren.
