The top is ornamented with a a large obelisk in the center with willow trees on each side. It reads: In Memory of MARY McCLAVE formerly of the City of New York who died 25 May 1845 aged 84 years The bottom has an inscription that isn't quite legible, but seems to be a version of a "Do not weep at my grave" poems.
