Johnson S2 US Navy, World War 11 24 Jul 1925 - 4 May 1945 PURPLE HEART IN MEMORY OF BILL JOHNSON WHO WAS KIA WHILE SERVING HIS COUNTRY ABOARD THE DESTROYER, THE USS LOWREY. Prior to the end of WW II the Lowrey was nearing the coast of Japan when attacked by two Japanese fighter planes. Bill was killed instantly and burial was at sea.
