Hansey, John
FORMER RESIDENT DEPARTS THIS LIFE  John Hansey Sr., a former resident of West 
Branch, died last Saturday night at 11:55 from a second stroke of paralysis, 
at his home in Ann Arbor.  In January, 1912 he suffered the first attack from 
paralysis, which practically left him an invalid since that time to his 
death.  The body was brought here on the noon train Tuesday for burial, and 
the remains were met at the station by the I.O.O.F Lodge No. 70, under whose 
austices the last rites were conducted.  C. L. Pray, secretary of the Ann 
Arbor I.O.O.F. arrived Monday and made arrangements for the funeral.  The body 
was accompanied by the deceased's children, John Hansey Jr. and Miss Beatrice 
Hansey.  John Hansey Sr. was born in Rochester New York state, in 1846, and 
died March 29, 1913.  Thirty-five years ago he with his family settled in 
Michigan, locating at Ann Arbor where they lived five years.  From there they 
moved to West Branch, living here about twenty five years and returning to Ann 
Arbor about six years ago.  The deceased was a contractor and builder and was 
a finished mechanic.  He held membership in the I.O.O.F. and E.O.T.M.M.  Mr. 
Hansey was twice married and of these unions four children were born and 
survive him:  John Jr., and Beatrice of Ann Arbor, Mrs. Louis Allen and Mrs. 
Harvey Hallway of Rochester, N.Y.  He is also survived by four sisters:  Mrs. 
Carrie Selfbridge, Mrs. Chas. Apthrop, Miss Jennie Hansey, Miss Nellie Hansey, 
all of Churchville, N.Y.
