Obituary
ANOTHER OLD RESIDENT CALLED TO HIS LAST REST
The community was shocked to hear of the sudden death of another old resident, 
Lewis M. Benaway, who was found dead in his bed, Tuesday, Nov. 6.  Lewis M. 
Beneway was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., May 16, 1853, and died Nov. 6, 1923, 
being 70 years, five months, 21 days of age at his death.  When a young man he 
moved with his parents to Lexington, Mich. where he grew to manhood.  On June 
9, 1876 he was united in marriage to Miss Phena Cline at Jeddo, Mich.  They 
soon after moved to West Branch, which has since been his home, except a few 
years spent in Port Huron, it being his desire to return to his old home and 
spend his last days among his old friends.  He served in the Spanish-American 
war and was a life member of the I.O.O.F. at West Branch, also a member of the 
Spanish American War veterans.  The funeral was held from the I.O.O.F. hall, 
Friday at 1:30, Rev. Glen of Prescott, officiating.  THe I.O.O.F. had charge 
of the services at Brookside cemetery, it being his request that that Lodge 
have charge of his funeral, and be buried in their lot, and from their hall.  
He leaves to mourn his death two children, Peter F. Beneway and Mrs. Elsie 
Duncan,  both of Saginaw; also four grandchildren, two brothers and one 
sister, John Beneway of Orion, Mich., Eugene P. Carman, Deckerville, Mich., 
Mrs. Roey Owens of Alpena.
