Last Rites Here January 18 for Alba David, 55 – Churchill Resident Passes on Suddenly 
After Heart Attack-Alba Scoffield David, 55 of Churchill Township, Ogemaw County, 
died of a heart attack after he was stricken in the office of a local doctor on Saturday, 
January 15. Funeral services were held at the Steuernol Chapel in West Branch at 11:30 
a.m. on Tuesday, January 18 with Rev. Willard Atherton officiating. Burial took place at 
the Selkirk cemetery.

Alba David was born at Durand, Michigan on July 21, 1893, the son of Scoffield and 
Hattie David, and passed away at the age of 55 on January 15, 1949. He is survived by 
his wife Hilda, whom he married at Prescott, Mich., in the year 1914.

A farmer by occupation, he had lived in Flint, Mich., prior to moving to Ogemaw County 
36 years ago.

Surviving, in addition to his widow, are three sons, Dewey, of Flint, Arthur, of Prescott, 
and Louis, at home; three daughters, Velma Goatbe, of Prescott, Della Mae Gorden 
[Gerken], of Saginaw [Bridgeport], and Bernice, at home; a sister, Helen Migan, also of 
Prescott; and three grandchildren.

Rites Fixed for Ogemaw Farmer – Heart Attack Fatal to A. S. David - West Branch – 
Funeral services for Alba Scoffield David, Ogemaw county farmer, who died suddenly 
following a heart attack Saturday afternoon, will be held Tuesday morning at 11:30 
o’clock at the Steuernol Funeral chapel here.

The Rev. Willard Atherton will officiate, and burial will be in the Selkirk cemetery.

Mr. David was born July 21, 1894, at Durand, Mich., and came to Ogemaw county 36 
years ago to locate on a farm in West Branch township. Surviving are his widow, Hilda; 
three sons; Dewey, of Flint, Arthur, of Prescott, and Louis, at home; three daughters, 
Mrs. Velma Goatbe, of Prescott, Mrs. Della Mae Gerken, of Saginaw, and Bernice, at 
home; a brother, Dewey, of Prescott; a sister, Mrs. Helen Migan, of Prescott; and three 
grandchildren.

Erysipelas, Mr. Alpha David, in the 70th year of his age. The Deceased had been a 
member of the M.E. Church for a period of more than fifty years. During his illness, 
which was of but a week's duration, in allusion to his departure he stated to his family
