During the winter of 187-2, or early in the year 1872, Mr. D. A. Blodgett (to whom the county is much indebted for many benefits conferred) proposed to the county, through its Board of Supervisors, to donate a block of ground in the town of Hersey and $3,500, toward the construction of a court-house, if the county would give the balance. This liberal proposition was accepted by the county, and the erection of the court-house was begun. It was completed in 1873, about mid- summer, and was formally taken possession of and the officers duly installed in their respective office rooms. The cost of this structure is estimated at $8,500.
