Mrs. J. Mowat Dies Thursday
Resident of County 22 Years, Heart Atack following Influenza
Mrs. James Mowat, aged 51 , died here at her Shelby home Thursday October 6.  
Her death was caused by a heart attack following a short spell of influenza.  
She had been recovering nicely from her sickness and friends were shocked when 
a sudden set back in her condition brought death.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran 
church.  Rev. Earl Solland officiated.  Burial was made in the local cemetary.
Mrs. Mowat was born April l2,1881 at Rodney, Michigan.  She was married in 
1906 at Twin Butte (Alberta,Canada) and she and her husband came to Devon 
(Montana)in 1910, where they homesteaded and have resided since, except for 
intervals during the winter when Mrs Mowat has resided in Shelby so her 
children could attend school.  She is survived by her husband James Mowat and 
a daughter Mrs. Margaret Curtis of Shelby, a brother Henry J. Mitchell, Alta.
(Twin Butte,Alberta,Canada); and three sisters: Mrs John Rankin of Twin Butte,
(Alberta,Canada)  Mrs. Osmond Dunn of Grand Forks, B.C. (Canada), and Mrs 
Albert Woods of New Westminster, B.C. (Canada). Grandchildren are Peggy Mowat 
and Della Curtis.

Her parents were:  Edward Mitchell - died, May 12, 1910, Twin Butte, Alberta , 
Canada and Elizabeth Ruffer Mitchell - died April 29, 1922 at Grand Forks, 
B.C., Canada. Both are buried at Union Cememtary in Pincher Creek, Alberta, 
Canada
