Betty Jane Boyer

Betty Jane (Nichols) Boyer of Mio was born June 7, 1924 in Kalamazoo,(error 
should be Jackson)Michigan; the oldest daughter of Harold and Irene Nichols 
died Monday,January 09, 2006.
Betty grew up in Jackson, Michigan, where she met and married Birdell (B.T.)
Boyer in July of 1944. Betty moved to Mio in 1946 where she became an
entrepreneur-owning and operating Cricket's Dress Shoppe, Clay and Such
Ceramics Shop, and Flowers by B's, along with maintaining a home and raising
3 children. Betty and her husband, Dell, generously opened their home to
family and others that needed a place to stay.
Betty was also an accomplished dressmaker and did alterations, and enjoyed
doing crafts. She was very active in the Mio Chamber of Commerce, holding
the position of treasurer. Her greatest joy was having her family around
her.
Her husband, B. T. Boyer, Jr. and her son-in-law Reid Berney predeceased
Betty, both in 1993. She is survived by son Jerry (Sue) Boyer of Bath,
daughter Judy Berney of Luzerne, daughter Cindee Boyer (Frank Tschiggfrey)
of Mio; grandchildren Marc Stevens, Mike (Lindsey) Boyer, Kerri (Scott)
Besemer, Kristi (Mike) Cassleman, Scott Boyer, and Butch (Dee) Warren. She
also leaves 7 great-grandchildren, a sister, Norma (Chas) Kelly of Horton,
Michigan, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1-4 and 6-9 on Wednesday, January 11, at the Lashley
Funeral Home of Mio. The funeral will be Thursday, January 12, at 1:00 at
the Lashley Funeral Home.
