Born in Holland, on May 15, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Gerrit and Alice Bronkhorst. She attended Holland schools, and married the late Maynard Batjes,who died in 1971. Batjes worked for Holland Shoe Co., Holland Cotton Products, Chris-Craft Cruisers Inc. and Prince Corp. retiring in 1980. Jennie was a member of Central Avenue Christian Reformed Church, Holland. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Batjes. Surviving are two daughters, Elaine Hamlin of Holland and Mrs. George (Barbara) Le Poire of Zeeland; one son, Mike Batjes of Holland; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs Lester (Alice) Woldring of Holland; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Gerrit (Clara) Bronkhorst and Mrs. Alma Van Dam (Albert Bronkhorst widow), both of Holland. Services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Dykstra Funeral Homes Northwood Chapel with the Rev. Simon Vroon officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
